  • Exchange 5.5 --> Hyperion

    Hi,

    I want to install the OX Hyperion Server. In the moment we run the MS Exchange 5.5. Is there a software, which can migrate the EMail-Boxes from 5.5 to Hyperion??

    Is the OX Server able to run on to different location(server)??

    Can I change the language of OX to "German"?

    Is there a website which list the details and features of the free OX-Hyperion Server?

    So, that's my list of questions! )

    Yours sincerely,
    Achilles87

    P.S.: Sorry for my bad english. I'm from Germany...

    As Hyperion uses standard protocols like imap/smtp for E-Mailing the migration must be done from Exchange to you favorite imap/smtp server like cyrus/postfix. But there is no migration software available at present.

    What exactly do you mean? You can set up the server on every host with network connectivity and use it from clients that are able to communicate to that host. Distributed setup (clustering) is possible, too. You may even outsource everything than the groupware logic from the OX Server (Mail/Database/Infostore on different machines)

    Yes

    As there is no real commercial version for the consumer market yet, there is no in deep feature list. You may look here (http://www.open-xchange.com/header/p...g_edition.html) or browse our wiki (http://www.open-xchange.com/wiki/) for in deep technical specification.
    Otherwise you may take a look at the 1&1 MailXchange offering (www.1und1.de/mail) and take a look at the features/use a 30-day-trial account.

    Please keep in mind:
    The Hyperion Community Edition is not officially supported by Open-Xchange. Co-Workers or some community members may answer some questions in their spare time, but this is not for sure. So if you plan to migrate from Exchange you should evaluate the product. Furthermore please notice, the HTML/JS GUI is released under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 2.5 Licence

      Moin (typical "Hello" in the north of Germany)
      Currently it does not exist.

      What do you mean with different location?
      Some kind of HA and load balancing?
      THis should be possible but the developers can answer in detail to this question

      Have a look at the roadmap, may be that's what you're looking for.

        Moin,

        @neo & Martin Braun: thanks for the answers. We have approximatly 1400 User. So I think the Community Edition is not the right thing for us. Is this right?

        How works the Licencing of the OX Server 5? We need only 100 OXtender, the rest will work with the web-interface.

        A "must have" is the migration of Exchange 5.5(mails, dates, contacts) to OX 5. I think that the OX 5 partner, from which we maybe buy the product, will have a tool for this, because we surely not the first customer, who want to migrate from 5.5. to OX 5.

        @Martin Braun:
        I want to build a cluster with two servers.

          Correct. Using the community edition may also cause some licensing issues because the GUI is CC noncommercial (but i am no lawyer). Additionaly there is no Outlook Connector available for the Community Edition. OX5 supports much more features for business use than hyperion does actually but there will be new commercial products using the new technologies of Hyperion soon.

          Outlook OXtenders 5 ships in packs of 25 Licences, please contact our presales/sales or the partner of your choice for a offering about that.

          Correct, there is a Exchange2OX migration tool that is used by our partners. Afaik Siegnetz.IT is a specialist of these migrations.

          This is possible with the Hosting Editon of Hyperion. Basic clustering/HA of OX5 Servers has been done, too but this will take some special coverage/integration by a partner or OX.
