  • Mail not showing in webmail inbox

    Hi,

We are having problems implementing the OX webmail app as although we are able to login fine, mails just don't display in the inbox and sent mails don't display either despite sending fine. Strangely enough, mails will display in the start page, can be opened and infobox shows correct quota usage. Once marked by OX as read though, an email is only visible through an IMAP client such as Thunderbird or Outlook.

OX does not report any errors at all and so far we have tried both http and https with no difference, we have also tested the webmail app on Firefox 2, Firefox 3, IE6 and IE7.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi James,

what IMAP Server/Version are you using? I don't think this one is UI related but could be a incompatibility of the groupware server with the IMAP server.

Thanks for the quick reply Martin.

The versions we are using are OX Epen Edition(hyperion) and the Cyrus 2.2.13-10 as the imap server.

      Cheers

        Hi James,

we're also using Cyrus very much and it's also the base for several customer installations out
there. With 2.2.13-10 on Debian Etch i cannot reproduce this behaviour - every mail is just
displayed fine. Would you mind monitoring some network traffic on port 143 to check what
happens at the groupware<->mailserver commuication if a user logs in and selects one of those
problematic E-Mails? Please take care to clean up passwords at the LOGIN part of the network
        capture.
If really simple plain text E-Mail can cause this trouble it should be some configuration issue.

        Greetings

          Hi Martin,

Thanks for the feedback thus far.

James and I are looking at this together. We've captured traffic on port 143 on the mail server, but see *no* traffic across this when a user logs into the webmail portal.

The portal clearly accesses the IMAP server, as it displays NEW messages in the home screen, and clicking on one of these causes it to be displayed in the main email window.

However, clicking into the Inbox returns a blank list - ie. nothing.

IMAP traffic on 143 is seen for users logging in from clients other than webmail.

          All suggestions most welcome,

          Rich & James
