  • Installing GUI only?

    Hi.
I've browsed the 2008 archived posts, but found nothing related.

I read on the community area homepage (http://www.open-xchange.com/en/community-en) that "... the AJAX-based user interface is available for free download ...".

I would like to review the GUI only, since we might replace our web front-end with something AJAX-based.

Now the question: is there a way/can I install the GUI alone? Or do I have to install the whole 0.8.8-0 package and then reconfigure the GUI?

I've tried for one day to complete the installation on RH EL5 but now I'm stuck with a javac error. And I'm not a Java developer myself. A suggestion for a Linux flavour that is more OE-friendly is welcome.

    TIA,
    Paolo

    Hi Paolo,

The AJAX GUI is part of Open-Xchange Server 6, NOT Open-Xchange 0.8 (which is Open-Xchange 5). The GUI of OX6 will not work with OX5 because OX6 is a whole new Product/Codebase. We've provided Installation guides and packages for the most common Linux distributions, for example RHEL5 over here: http://www.open-xchange.com/wiki/ind..._Edition_RHEL5
Using this guide you won't need to compile any java stuff and the installation should be far more easy to handle.

    Greetings
