  • Filtering by calendar category?

We'd like to be able to have a calendar of events, vacations, deadlines, meetings, etc, and see only some or all of those categories on a calendar. Is there a way to do that by assigning categories to each appointment or by placing appointments into different folders?

I do not see a way to show only certain categories on a calendar or to show appointments from multiple folders on the same calendar.

We'd also like to have each category show up as a different color, but I don't see a way to do that, either.

To have different calendars, just create different calendar folders. Do a right click on a folder, create new subfolder and add appointments to it. By selecting one calendar, you see only appointments in this calendar. When you go to your private calendar you can tick a box in the bottom "to show all your appointments from all calendars".

So the idea is that for each of our event appointments, we have to remember to include all staff members as participants (is there a way to default it to include everyone?) and then they'll see the event appointments in their private calendar when they check that box?

You are able to create multiple calendar folders and share them to anybody or any group on the server. For marking appointments, you can set "tags" which are user defined text labels and on the other hand "flags" which are predefined color labels. You can define a ruleset for each calendar and each user it is shared to, for example - your secretary is able to create appointments in your calendar, but your business partner only sees appointments without the right to modify them. Additionaly, private appointments can be created which are only visible to the creator. Of course you are able to invite participants to appointments, but shared calendars make things a lot easier when working in a team.
This features apply to all modules.
When using this, you do not need to invite everybody to the appointment, but create a shared calendar folder and put appointments in it which are visible to anybody who can access the calendar.
