    Open-Xchange Releases Open-Xchange v6.20

Today Open-Xchange releases Open-Xchange Server v6.20. This update includes new versions of
    • Open-Xchange Server 6 (OX6), the common basis for products OX HE (Hosting Edition) and OX SE (Server Edition), and the

    Please note:
    • For authentications against external services, Open-Xchange has now implemented OAuth, and OAuth will be used whenever the service is supported. Most likely OAuth will become the industry standard for authentication of external services and it is already supported by several services: For example LinkedIn, Twitter, and Facebook. Using OAuth has several advantages compared to existing implementations used in the Open-Xchange user interface: With the new authentication method, users only need to authorize once to an external social service. After the initial authentication has been done, all additional updates can then be performed without having to login again (well, at least as long as the credentials at the external service remain unchanged). After the update to the new Open-Xchange major release, users will need to setup their Facebook® and LinkedIn® subscriptions once more.
    • Open-Xchange discontinues Support for SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10 (SLES10) - as you may know, SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10 (SLES10) has been superseded by SLES11. Open-Xchange has discontinued support of SLES10, though will continue to fix bugs in the category "blockers" and "critical" for SLES 10 until the major release OX6 v6.20. Starting with the next release OX6 v6.22 (mid of 2011), Open-Xchange Server will support SLES 11 and all other official supported operating systems like Debian 5.0, 6.0, RHEL5 and RHEL6. As users of SUSE Linux Enterprise Server10, we encourage you to update to the latest operating system version. Severe flaws of Java 5, potentially allowing denial-of-service attacks (DoS) have been addressed with Java 6 and thus with SLES11.
    • Open-Xchange discontinue Support of the outdated Java 5, though we will continue to fix bugs in the category "blockers" and "critical" for Java 5 until major release v.6.18.2 Starting with the next releases, Open-Xchange Server only supports Java 6. As users of Java 5, we encourage you to update latest Java version.
