  • Appointment mail notification

    Hello everybody,

I noticed a problem with the behavior of the appointment mail notification system.
For internal appointments with only OX users involved everything is fine. There we can configure the system with the calendar settings:

    E-Mail notification for Accept/Declined
    * E-Mail notification for appointment creator?
    * E-Mail notification for appointment participant?
But if there are external users involved OX sends notification mails to every invited user (except the OX users with according settings). Is it possible to disable this function?

    Greetings
    Sebastian

    Hi,

i'm not quite sure what you try to achieve. How should an external participant who has no access to ox know, that there is an appointment? Within OX it's not necessary to get mails because a user might check the web interface which displays new appointments when they are created.

We send ical attachments with mails to external participants to support interoperability with other solutions in terms of exchanging appointment updates or confirmations.

    Greetings

That is our problem. If there are external participants we don't want OX to send notification mails for confirmations to every single participant. Or is this behavior part of an RFC?

      Greetings

I checked some RFCs. In the iTIP RFC (http://www.ietf.org/rfc/rfc2446.txt) interoperation with other calendar systems is described. Here is an example for group events:

        Action "Organizer" Attendee
        Initiate a meeting
        request
        "A" sends a REQUEST
        message to "B", "C",
        and "D"
        Accept the meeting
        request
        "B" sends a REPLY
        message to "A" with its
        ATTENDEE "partstat" para-
        set to "accepted"
        Decline the meeting
        request
        "C" sends a REPLY
        message to "A" with its
        ATTENDEE "partstat" para-
        set to "declined"
        Tentatively accept
        the meeting request
        "D" sends a REPLY
        message to "A" with its
        ATTENDEE "partstat" para-
        set to "tentative"
        Confirm meeting
        status with
        attendees
        "A" sends a REQUEST
        message to "B" and
        "D" with updated
        information.

But in OX it is more like:

        Action "Organizer" Attendee
        Accept the meeting
        request
        "B" sends a REPLY
message to "A", "C" and "D" with its
        ATTENDEE "partstat" para-
        set to "accepted"

We're tracking this as a bug report. Since it's not high priority it might take a while until it gets fixed.
