Hi there,
it is deeply impressive to see and feel the degradation switching from a real exchange to open xchange. At least it feels like a degradation.
As i first saw the web interface i said to my self: Well, the tree has a structure and ordering i don't understand, the contacts area is not well thought (photos will be shown only on mouse over etc.) and the ui does not remeber it's last status after login/logout - anyhow it does cost less and has (in theory as we will see later) the ability to mimic a exchange server and active sync.
After using the Microsoft Outlook Uploader which is not smart enough to sync mails, i got (hopefully) all my mails (>150.000) and other items at the new place. Fine. I installed the latest-greatest oxtender for outlook and hoped to be ready to keep on working.
But i ask the community and the developer what is it worth to have a middleware for syncing if essential and critical functionality like the notification about new incoming mail is not available and if syncing seems to happen randomly and not if a new mail receives or on a configurable interval.
To complete this desaster, the contact photos are not synced - regardless if it is a smartphone or a outlook client. On the web client side, XING does not work.... Really great :-/
Writing this i feel anger. Anger because open xchange including all its nice tools and oxtenders is nearly useless if i need a smartphone on my table to get a notification about new incoming mails 10 minutes or more before they become visible in outlook. And this leads me to the question why this happens or better: Why did the QA-Team not complain about this before the software was released to the wild.
Currently i'm in the mood to pay 3 EUR more per month and switch back to microsoft exchange: It still has disadvantages, but it has one killer feature: It works most of the time as expected. But maybe it's the anger... Maybe someone has a fix for this or maybe i am too stupid to install and use the oxtender ...
I would be very thankful for a solution.
