Chalenge: migrate OX APPSuite 7.8.2 to latest version - possible?

I faced an old installation of OX appsuite 7.8.2 that needs to be moved to the latest version.
it resides on an Debian.

The only importance are the calendars and maybe contacts as the mail reside on an external IMAP.

What are you suggestions. New Install of the latest or step by step upgrade through all versions?

If you can have downtimes you can upgrade normally even directly. There are problems which can occur though so something like going to 7.8.latest and then 7.10.0 and then 7.10.6 is probably more safe.
In any case you should have dumps from your database for every step to avoid any surprises. And you better read the release notes documents for the versions inbetween. They would contain some hints. There are some bigger changes for 7.10 because the calendar data storage completely changed. Everything should be handled automatically but there is a risk.

Wow, this sounds promissing and challenging in one :-)
