  • Problem with search engine in OX 5

When users with thounsands of mails searches for them with the OX 5, web interface, a java proccess appears and consumes almost 100% of the CPU load and makes the others clients to get timeouts

Is there a way to limite those to 50% of the CPU?

    Thanks in advance

    Hi,

usually it's not an issue if a process consumes idle CPU resources. There are several scheduling/quota hacks for the kernel or userspace to limit CPU resources for a process. You might check something like http://cpulimit.sourceforge.net/ or more advanced kernel magic. Since OX itself has no influence to any runtime behavior outside the JVM, there is no build in switch. OX6 should be much faster when working with e-mail, just in case you consider switching to the latest generation.

    Greetings

Thanks for your answer, the program in sourceforge provides percentage limit based on stoping and starting the process, is not really limiting CPU%, anyway, our server is a dual quad core and his only purpose is the mail service.

I am trying to figured out if the problem can be in the groupware insted of the webmail, do you have any idea o similar problem report about that?

        Hi,

well i haven't worked with OX5 for some time now, the EOL for this generation has already been reached. Maybe some OX5 veteran drops by at the forums. If you have/had contact with some system integrator firm in the past, you might ask them.

        Greetings
