Community or Server Edition - upgrade?

    Hi,
we are testing the Open xchange Server in our company.
Now there are a 2 questions concerning the different editions:

    1. which version do we have right now (we followed the installation procedure from http://oxpedia.org/wiki/index.php?ti...for_Debian_5.0)
Is this really the Community Edition?

    2. if the installation will fulfill our needs, can we upgrade to the commercial edition e.g. Server Edition?

    regards
    Jens

    Hi,

if you did not enter a license code or maintenance subscription, you've installed the "Community Edition". On the technical side there is not much difference, but the Server/Hosting Edition comes with support, SLA, commercial plugins etc.

You could also get in contact with the sales team and request a proof of concept or trial version with pre-sales support.

    Greetings

      Hi Martin,
      thank you for your reply.
Does that mean that we can buy a Server Edition for our company, type in the license code and then have done the upgrade?

Basically: yes - but in contrast to the Community Edition, the Server Edition has fixed releases and version numbers. If you use a snapshot or nightly build of the Community Edition, that might become an issue. I suggest to contact our sales people for more information and options.

        Greetings
