  • After moving Mailserver to new hardware, dovecot permission errors for new users

    Hello everyone,

three weeks ago I migrated my Univention Server (4.2-3 errata284) with my installed open xchange (7.8.4-ucs10) from an Citrix VM to a newer VMware machine. I used starwindconverter and everything worked just fine. All users and all mailadresses worked like before, Outlook sync with oxtender worked perfectly but now I tried to create a new user with a new mailadress and when I try to log on as this user on the appsuite (or the older ox6 platform) I get errors:

The connection to remote server darxxx.darxxx.eu was refused or timed out while attempting to connect. Please try again later. (ID: -623466272-1375 / MSG-1016) 26/6/2018 09:45

In dovecot I get permission errors but I am a serious newbie with open xchange (and sadly Linux) and I am afraid that I could mess something up for the other users, who work perfectly fine at the moment.
In the dovecot log I have these messages:
darxxx dovecot: managesieve (email@darxxx.eu): Error: Invalid user settings. Refer to server log for more information.
darxxx dovecot: imap (email@darxxx.eu): Error: user email@darxxx.eu: Initialisation faield: Namespace ' ': mkdir(/var/spool/dovecot/private/darxxx.eu/[USER]/Maildir) failed: Permission denied (euid=127 (dovemail) egid=135 (dovemail) missing +w perm: /var/spool/dovecot/private/darxxx.eu, dir owned by 0:0 mode=0755)

These are repeating endlessly when trying to connect as the user.
Its clear that here are missing permissions but as I said I am afraid to change anything because I dont want the other users to crash, too.

Has anyone went through the same or a similar situation when they migrated a OX Server to other hardware or anything?

    Thanks in advance!

    Daniel

Okay this can be closed, I am stupid but I learned a lot today.
This might be a little bit "dirty" but I saw, that the directory of the domain folder was owned by root as the only folder in this directory and I changed the owner of the directory to "dovemail:dovemail" and this worked.

    Thanks none the less!
