  • A few basic questions

    Hi All,

A couple of Q's on OX:
    • Does OX support resource scheduling? Such as sceduling conference rooms, projectors etc? If it does, does this count as a client license?
    • Storage Limits - Is there a limit to how big the information store can get? How about individual mailboxes? Can storage expand in the future? If so, is it just a process of adding more drive space or would you have to move to a new server?

    Thanks,
    Rob

Yes, resources are handled like contacts and can be used for scheduling. This means resources are not bound to user licenses.

Well, the different OX subsystems use native system components like the cyrus imapd (just one example of many), the systems file storage or the used database management system. So limitations are given by the operating system, defined quotas and of course by the available system resources. Mailboxes for example can be placed on every kind of storage system or into a existing imap compliant mail server which uses his own resources. You may also integrate a complex database cluster that holds the groupware data or a Network Storage for the infostore. This allows to build a fully distributed system because the groupware scales up to whatever system you build, maybe with a petabyte mailbox .
