email reminders

hi,

i'd like to have email reminders for upcoming appointments and tasks. the ajax popup window doesn't count as a reminder unless you watch the webinterface constantly. i use mac OSX and linux (as do most of my users) for all my work, and there is no client available which works w/OXEE on either of those OS' yet.

where would i hook some code in to do this?
