  • Problem with OX administration after installation

Hi I just installed Open-Xcange using the Community Installer on my openSuse 10.3 running under VMWare.

Before starting the installer, I installed the openLDAP server, which is part of openSuse 10.3 following Stefan Kanias Workshop.

The Community Installer seems to be running smooth and easy - I can't see any errors yet.

After finishing the installation, I openend a web browser and connected to the Open-Xchange Server on 192.168.0.210/ox.html
    This worked.
On a client computer as well as on the server.

But I am not able to connect to 192.168.0.210/oxadmin/Login
    This gives me
    Code:
    {"category":3,"error_params":["Can't find session."],"error":"%s","error_id":"-940497299-36","code":"SES-0200"}
If I try to connect to 192.168.0.210/oxadmin/, I get
    Code:
Cannot find class mapping for oxadmin/
No difference, if I try local or from external...

    Any help?

    Thanks

    Dirk

I tried installing OX again on a snapshot of my opensuse, which shows the basic installation from disk - without any updates and without LDAP installed.

The result remains the same - I can access testusers site, but not the oxadmin pages...

        Ciao

And what if you try 192.168.0.210/ox/admin/ ?

Hey! This leads me one step forward ;-)

But after entering "open-xchange-admin" and the root-password, I got an error:
"Athentication failed for user open-xchange-admin (SVL-0001,1420055319-2)"

            Ciao

Another thing - which may be the reason for my problems:

If I use LAM to view my LDAP tree - I see NO objects there...
Shouldn't be testuser and open-xchange-admin be there?

              Ciao

                OX does not use LDAP.

Where did you get that username from?

Ups - then I misunderstood something realy bad ;-(

For example at http://www.heinous.org/wiki/Open-XCh...with_SuSE_10.0 LDAP ist mentioned...

While running the installation script "opensuse103-hyperion-0.0.4.sh" this username was prompted to be used for admin purpose...

                  Ciao

You used the 0.2.4 script, I presume.
During the installation you were asked to give a password for open-xchange-admin. This is only tha Apache password. Afterwards, you have to login with user oxadmin and password secret. I added the Apache user and password because in my opinion only oxadmin with secret is not safe enough. Even if you change the oxadmin password, the only thing hackers have to guess is that password and the admin pages can be reached from all over the world.
I realize my solution is not perfect either and not well documented. I will add in the next installer (which will be available for OpenSUSE 11.0 as well) questions about the IP's who are allowed to contact the admin pages.

                      Ahhh... ;-)
Now it seems to be working...

                      OK. That makes sense...

That's a good idea. Even if it might be needed or usefull to access the admin pages from outside...

                      Thanks
