Open-Xchange and Dovecot release Dovecot Anti-Abuse Shield
Open-Xchange is pleased to announce the product release of Dovecot Anti-Abuse Shield.
Dovecot Anti-Abuse Shield is included with Dovecot Pro, but works with both Dovecot Pro and OX App Suite as a component to protect against login/authentication abuse.
Anti-Abuse Shield runs on a cluster of servers, and integrates with both OX App Suite and Dovecot to detect abuse, brute force attacks and also to enforce common authentication/authorization policies across the platform.
Please note: Dovecot Anti-Abuse Shield is only available for customers who have a valid Dovecot Pro license and Dovecot Pro v2.2.25.1. onwards.

- Replicated/clustered architecture shares login reports between all cluster servers to provide a single overview of abuse
- Scriptable policy language – using the Lua language, the daemon functionality can now record and protect against a wide range of abusive behaviors as well as implementing specific customer security policies
- DNS lookups – for looking up blacklisted IPs or domains
- GeoIP lookups now incorporated into policy decisions
- Rate-limiting and tarpitting enabled and enforced based on IP address, login name, GeoIP location, time-windows, etc.
- Flexible in-memory statistics database – a versatile and extensible in-memory database to store abuse statistics from just a few minutes to hours
- Integration with customer authentication/authorization systems – customers can use the open HTTP REST API to benefit from the protection of the anti-abuse daemon in their own authentication/authorization systems
- Admin console – for retrieving statistics and querying server state
