  • difference between OX server edition and OX Hosting Edition

    Hie,
Can you tell me what is the big difference between OX server edition and OX Hosting Edition .
    Best regards.

Hi, there are no "big" differences in the application.
A few more packages. They enable the Server to handle more than one Context.
    The license-modell is different.

      Dirk is right.

Server edition is meant for one context/tenant while Hosting Edition is meant for hosting providers to service more than one customer at once with one installation.
The big difference is actually the license model and not the really the software.

          As this page states:

          "
Both on-premises and hosted Open-Xchange use exactly the same software code.
This is unique in the entire software industry as it provides our customers with unmatched freedom to choose their favorite deployment model any time they like – with no migration effort
          "

So yes, the software is the same but the licensing model is different.
Technically it's also (more or less) possible to use the community edition while the CC license of the WebUI does not allow to use it commercially https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/2.5/
