Hints for upgrade from 6.14 Community to latest OXSE

    Hi,
I've an old installation of Open-Xchange Community (6.14) up & running on Ubuntu 8.04.
Now I've bought the licences and I'm going to switch to the latest release (AppSuite+6.22.1 frontend).

    I tested this upgrade path:
    1- Dump of original DB
2- Install of ubuntu 12.04 with packages of a 6.20_7 Community and import/upgrade the original DB
3- Install of centos6 with OXSE 6.20_7 packages and import/upgrade from step 2
    4- Upgrade step3 server to 6.22.1
    5- Upgrade step4 server to 7.0

    Do you see anything wrong?

In all this process I'll never do a complete installation and setup and I don't know where to put my license key there is a file or something similar?
    Thanks!

    Giuseppe

    Hi Giuseppe,

the update path looks all right, just one thing: You need to update 6.20.7 to 6.22.0 before continuing to update. Check this guide: http://oxpedia.org/wiki/index.php?title=Update_to_6_22
Afterwards, you can update straight to 7.0.0 if you like. Please be aware that 7.0.0 is not yet commercially supported. License key handling is described here: http://oxpedia.org/wiki/index.php?title=OXReportClient.

    Greetings
    Martin

      What does that specifically mean?
I do not really need 7.0.0 and the gui doesn't really fit my needs because it lacks teamviews and so If the update is not suggested I can stay on 6.22.1

        Hi,

it means that the 7.0.0 backend and frontend are released without commercial support that can be claimed if anything goes wrong. You also don't get any commercial addons like Outlook or ActiveSync support. If you don't need the 7.0.0 frontend, you can go with 6.22.1 and update to 6.22.2 later this quarter. 6.22.2 is a combination of the 7.0.1 backend and the OX6 UI (both commercially supported). App Suite releases contain all-7.x version numbers. The commercially supported version of OX AppSuite is scheduled for mid-february and will have version 7.0.1 at the back- and frontend.

        Greetings
        Martin
